This course is designed for students who want to tell original stories, create comics of their very own, and who want to develop their drawing abilities. For this term we’ll be learning how to craft origin stories about everyone’s favourite seafaring rebels, Pirates! We’ll learn how to design pirate ships and quirky characters, along with learning how to draw a seascape!

Additionally, in this 8 session term course, students will learn how to

  1. Transform their ideas into structured stories and understand the elements of a compelling narrative
  2. Use story charts to visually plan their comics.
  3. Develop underdrawing, sketching, and inking skills

By the end of the term, each student will receive a printed copy their own original comic, along with a folder showcasing their creative process.

Class sizes are limited to a maximum of 12 students to ensure that each student receives the attention, feedback, and guidance necessary to succeed in this incredible creative endeavour.

Supplies including art materials, folders, and paper, are provided in class. Students are encouraged to bring a bottle of water and a nut free snack. Considering the nature of art classes, it’s also recommended that students wear comfortable clothing that they don’t mind getting a bit of ink and paint on :)
