comic making and art classes for tomorrow's storytellers

Meet Soolagna

Born in Kolkata and raised in Perth, Soolagna (Sue-lug-na) grew up using pictures to build bridges better than words ever could. Her desire to share a story, regardless of language, fuelled her passion for visual storytelling. She fell in love with comics, a love that empowered her as a child to connect with those around her in unique and beautiful ways.

Formalising her education of the visual arts, Soolagna studied at Curtin University, double-majoring in Creative Advertising and Graphic Design & Illustration with a Bachelor of Arts. Since then her work has featured in publications such as Vice, Buzzfeed, Cordite Press, Kookie Magazine, and in WA Museum Boola Bardip. She’s also had experience teaching at Milktooth (School of Art + Stories) and The Globe Town Project among many others.

She is a proud member of the Perth Comic Arts Festival committee, serving as secretary. Soolagna works freelance as an illustrator, graphic designer, textile designer, storyboard artist, and all-around visual creative available for commission work.

Soolagna holds an active Working With Children Check and valid police clearance.
